The information contained in this module is more suited to those students at an Advanced stage and is not necessary for most Amazon Sellers. The information contained in this lesson is highly technical in nature, and generally considered not necessary for 99% of Amazon sellers. We receive lots of questions about the different GS1 country websites and the most economical way to purchase backend UPC/EAN barcodes. The pricing structure between GS1 sites has always been different and they maintain their own fee structures and updates which may happen at any time.
You can lease GS1 barcodes from any of the international GS1 websites for any Amazon marketplace. You cannot buy a one off UPC/EAN code through GS1 - they need to be renewed annually through a leasing system. The GS1 fee structure varies widely between each GS1 international website and can be both confusing & challenging to find and compare.
