Session #1: Where To Buy Your UPC Codes
Our Trainer discusses where to buy your universal product codes (UPC) to build your Amazon listing.
Our Trainer will take you through the 3 places you can buy UPC codes and where we recommend you buy UPC codes from. This lesson also prepares you for the application process you will need to follow to join GS1.
When you are ready to build your product listing you will need a universal barcode EAN/UPC ready to go for your backend field. The backend ‘Product ID’ field in Amazon accepts a few different types of barcodes including GTIN, EAN, UPC & ASIN. Amazon private label sellers like you, need to buy or lease a UPC/EAN barcode.
There are 3 different places Amazon Sellers source UPC/EAN barcodes
- The official GS1 organisation (Our recommendation GS1 UK)
- Third Party Resellers – Such as Nationwide or Speedy barcodes
- Disreputable Fake/Reused UPC sellers
Session #2: I Need Barcodes Now
Our Trainer discusses the truth about product barcodes and the number 1 mistake new sellers make.
The most common question we get is “How Do I Get Barcodes To Apply To My Product ASAP???”
Lots of Amazon Sellers look for shortcuts to get barcodes on their product quickly and often make some of the biggest mistakes in selling by rushing this process.
The logistics of gathering information & product images can be challenging, Some Sellers feel pressured to purchase the product before creating their listing. If you have made the rookie mistake of ordering product before creating your listing, you will need to reset the expectation of your supplier (and yourself) when planning timelines for barcodes & shipping your product.
Never enter temporary/dummy/placeholder information or images to skip to the barcode stage. Amazon have built their FBA process in a specific order so that Sellers can’t skip all the information that is important to Amazon. Amazon wants to protect its customers & staff from fraudulent, unethical and unprofessional sellers.
Successful Amazon Sellers build their listing the way they intend to launch it.
After your product is launched assess whether it is possible to make adjustments and plan small non critical tweaks.
